What Do You Mean By Bartering?
"Bartering" is when you exchange various goods and services for another person's goods and services. In this case, goods from Japan in exchange for drawing requests. This is the very same thing as commissioning, except rather than me sending you money (which is difficult when all your money is in a Japanese bank), I am finding you obscure Japanese goods at cost.

What kinds of things can you get me?
If it is available, pretty much anything. The best items to request for are:

1. Doujinshi
2. Character Goods
3. Snacks
4. Knick-knacks (like Mamegoma, Hello Kitty, etc.)
5. Jewelry
6. Stationary goods.
7. Jpop items
8. Books

Okay! So how do I send you my requests?
Simply drop me a note with a list of what you would like. For a successful shopping trip, I recommend that you be as broad in your requests as possible, but don't hesitate to list preferences. For example:

"I would like Bleach doujinshi with Orihime in it!" or "I would like NarutoxSasuke doujinshi!" NOT "I want [such and such circle]'s [such and such title] doujinshi."

"I would like cute, candy-like jewelry from Harajuku!" or "I would like some goth-lolita style accessories." NOT "I would like some frog hairclips, star earrings, and pink strawberry necklaces." (Though that is probably do-able...)

In the case of manga or CDs, you can be specific. It's easier to locate things with bar codes.

I would like some goods from Japan, but I don't think you would want my artwork in exchange. T.T
Never fear! You can help me by commissioning one of my favorite artists on my behalf! Tell me what you want, I will make the purchase and give you the total, then you will transfer that amount of money to whichever artist I am wanting artwork from the time.

...of course, I am always open to other negotiations. Just send me a note and make me an offer. ^^

Okay, so run this by me one more time...
This is how it works.

1. You figure out what you want.
2. You send me a note, introducing yourself and telling me what you would like me to shop for. This is also where you give me your commission rates. Wait for my response.
3. I will respond, telling you if your request is do-able. If it is, I will give you a time frame of which I will be able to acquire your goods. This is the time where you should give me a limit of how many artworks you can do, because at times I can get a little spend-crazy.
4. Now you wait. ^^ Don't worry, it usually doesn't take more than a week. If you are unsure, drop me a note. I check DA every day.
5. I will send you a note telling you how much I have acquired, and will give you an itemized list of the costs, plus an estimate (subject to change) of how much it will be to ship.
6. You respond with your shipping address.
7. I will send you my list of requests.
8. Before shipping your goods (which I do all at once), I will ask to at least see one proof of one of my requests, just to make sure you are serious about completing the works.
9. After seeing one proof, I will ship your goods. I will send you a note with the final shipping costs (if different from the estimate) and tracking numbers so you can track your package.
10. You get to work on your sketches!
